Maggs
Artist working across Expressive Arts • Painting • Painting - Expressionism • Painting - Figurative • Painting - Landscape • Painting - Modern • Painting - Oil
Paula Maggs is passionate about art. Balancing her life as a single mother of eight, Maggs maintained a dedicated art practice while studying, culminating in a Master of Fine Art from RMIT in 2023. Her art is about digging into her life experiences and burrowing into her psyche to expose unacknowledged, deeply buried belief systems, imprinted from birth in a controlled, religious upbringing. Painting from a place of instinct, she channels themes of power, transformation, and the primal. Through intuitive mark making, that embraces the materiality of the paint, Maggs does not try to hide the rawness, urgency and chaos of her process, which is integral to the emotional and conceptual weight of each piece.
