Gosia

Gosia Orzechowska is a Canberra-based artist originally from Poland. After completing five years of study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poland, she moved to Australia, where she continued to develop her artistic practice. With a background in oil painting, etching, sculpture, and installation art, Gosia explored a range of media before focusing primarily on acrylic painting. Her recent work is inspired by Australian nature, particularly wild native flowers. As a migrant, her connection to the Australian landscape grew gradually through curiosity, exploration, and a deepening sense of appreciation. Gosia’s paintings are detailed and expressive, yet they are not intended to be photographic. She enjoys balancing detail with simplicity, soft and hard edges, and exploring colour and form to capture the unique character of flowers in a more expressive way. For Gosia, painting is an ongoing journey of learning, experimentation, and creative discovery, where each work brings new challenges and possibilities.
