Carla van Laar
Artist working across Painting • Drawing • Short Films • Installations • Art Therapy • Books • Expressive Arts
I describe my painting as Neo-sensorialism — creative practice generated in sensory relationship with the living world. When I paint, I spend time immersed in the places around me, drinking in the atmosphere with all of my senses, responding through gesture, movement and paint. My artworks carry traces of these encounters. I’m fascinated by how art can deepen perception, awaken imagination, and invite us into richer relationships with the places and communities we belong to.
