Amanda McLean is a self-taught, professional artist and renowned pastel artist with well over 40 years of experience. Amanda grew up drawing, painting and creating. She has a deep passion for the Australian landscape and is known for the sensitivity and 'sense of place' in her work. Amanda specializes in capturing the beauty of clouds, seascapes, and water in her pastel paintings. She documents her life and travels through her pastel paintings and in her often-handmade sketchbooks, which are considered works of art in their own right. Amanda has contributed extensively to national and international art publications, focusing on her chosen medium. She has also worked closely with Australian Company Art Spectrum to develop a wide range of new pastel colours based on her formulations. With a background in graphic design in television and eight years in fine art supplies and framing, Amanda brings a wealth of experience to her art practice. As a popular tutor, Amanda conducts workshops on pastel and sketchbook art in Australia and internationally. She has a longstanding history of exhibitions, both group and solo, since the mid-1980s. Most recently, Amanda was one of only two Australian pastel artists invited to participate in an international pastel exhibition in the Loire region of France in late 2025.
